To be considered for a research partnership, please review our research policy and submission guidelines before completing the research request form. The ABS also supports research projects through the ABMS Visiting Scholars Program.

The ABS receives many requests to partner with outside researchers to conduct a variety of scientific studies. To address the requests that we receive, we have developed a standardized process by which interested parties should submit their proposals to the ABS. 

Research Policy

Outlines the procedure for research proposal submission

The ABS accepts proposals from individuals and organizations requesting data and/or analytic support from the ABS. Priority is given to requests that align with the mission of the ABS and its research agenda. Projects that are not necessarily aligned with the ABS research agenda may be considered on an individual basis. 

Submit Your Research Proposal

Submission of the Research Request form is required

To be considered for a research partnership with the ABS, interested parties must complete the Research Request form. Submissions must include a proposal that is 1-3 pages in length.

Priority is given to requests that align with the mission of the ABS and its research agenda. Projects that are not necessarily aligned with the ABS research agenda may be considered on an individual basis.

ABMS Visiting Scholars Program

Shaping the next generation of research leaders in health care

The ABS is proud to be a member board co-sponsor of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) Visiting Scholars Program™.

The ABMS Visiting Scholars Program is an annual one-year, part-time grant program that supports early-career physicians and researchers in their leadership development and research efforts that advance the ABMS mission and align with current research priorities.

Grants are awarded to support research and travel expenses associated with program participation and research deliverables.

Visiting Scholars are selected based on the quality of their proposed research project, the relevance of their research to the ABMS mission and the certification community, and the likelihood of making substantial progress on the project during the scholar year.
